Welcome Veterans

Our Office

If you've served in the military in the past, or are currently serving in the military and you'd like to meet other veteran students, then you have come to the right place.  At the Veterans' Program Office we seek to provide a sense of community amongst those who have served in any branch of the United States Military.  We are located in the Northwest corner of the Lory Student Center, Rm 195, on the plaza level.  Our number is 970-491-3977.

Objective

We recognize that veterans are in a unique situation on a college campus, and we are here to help make the transition from the military to college as easy as possible for you.  We have information on programs and services like Veteran's Education Benefits, Veteran Student's Contacts, RamWelcome, the local VA office, Veteran's Group, and steps to admission at CSU.  Feel free to stop by in regards to the above or with any other questions you may have.

Goals

  • Help in the transition to college
  • Provide a sense of kinship at CSU
  • Assist student veterans on their course to graduation
  • Supply guidance in gaining employment after graduation

Delays on payment for the Post 9/11 Gi Bill

We just wanted to touch base with everyone who’s on the new Post 9/11 GI Bill  – as Glen and Connie shared with us at the veteran’s welcome and as the news reports are all saying – the VA is 8 weeks or more behind with GI Bill certifications and paying benefits.  I know this means things will be really tight for some people – and even worse than tight for others of you.  I know Glen is putting out information about the emergency funds up to $3,000 that the VA is going to be paying (we’ve put stuff up on our website too).  Beyond that, I just wanted to remind you that if it looks like you or someone you know on the GI Bill is going to be struggling financially – don’t wait, fill out a FAFSA (go through the links on the Student Financial Services website) and then go and talk with Student Financial Services to see what they can do to help, even if it’s a loan that you can pay back to the government when the GI Bill funds start coming.  Let us know if you have any questions.
